Free Adventure… Geocaching
What a great FREE activity that families can do together. With technology changing and becoming more accessible, this is definitly an outdoor adventure even the city dwellers can have fun exploring.

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment. –Source: Geocaching.com
There are 828,738 active geocaches around the world.
I first learned of Geocaching about 5 years ago – before personal GPS or GPS on a phone was a common item. I have to admit – I got frustrated easily. I wanted my first “treasure hunt” experience to be a fun one. (i.e., one that I didn’t have to work too hard.)
I’m ready to try again however and I’d like to invite you and your family.
Go to Geocaching.com. On the front page is a box to enter your zip code – no need to register! Start the hunting from there.

Keep in mind that Geocaching is not just for the rugged wilderness. There are countless caches in Urban areas as well. (Well not COUNTLESS but you get my drift.)
The adventure challenge is to find a cache close to you, check it out and take a pic. Who will you take with you?

Thanks for creating this nice post. As a cacher, I’m helping host a huge geocaching booth at Corvallis, Oregon’s upcoming “daVinci Days,” July 17-19. I invite you ALL to come! Information, demonstrations, competition, and new friendships await!
