This is one of the best things I can think of recommending for someone new to breaking out of their comfort zone. It’s an extreme situation in a controlled environment.

I came across this idea initially by reading Tim Ferriss’ blog/email about training on how to prepare and protect yourself in the event you’re kidnapped / attacked ect. Unfortunately, I cannot find the email and it’s not on his blog so, for now, it will remain just a vague memory in my brain.
Aside from actually getting some practical knowledge and tools from these services, let’s take a moment to breathe in the awesome bad assedness of actually getting to do this stuff.
I’ve gleaned the internet and come up with a few examples of combat/survival training.

Here’s CRI Training. They have modified courses for children and teens as well as theoretical only seminars. Talk about a great idea for a corporate retreat! lmao. serious though. It would be one badass retreat. Prices are not listed on their site.
Here’s a link to their video. Dude. I wanna do this right now!
Here’s Risk Incorporated. Their training course runs around $1,400 and is in Miami, FL.
In Risks Inc’s promotional video they water board their clients! Not looking forward to that but what an incredible way to understand what it’s like and how horrible it could be. It would either validate or severly alter my perception!

This is one of the best things I can think of recommending for someone new to breaking out of their comfort zone. It’s an extreme situation in a controlled environment. (Maybe they’d let me blow some shit up?!?)
Have you participated in a course like this? Tell me about it!
The most comprehensive skydiving site online: Dropzone.com review
“Dropzone.com is the destination site for skydivers all over the world. We have established a personal relationship with the skydiving community and offer a wide range of skydiving features and services found nowhere else on the web. A substantial share of skydivers who use the Internet visit Dropzone.com on a regular basis.”
They offer great videos on safety, training, information and demonstrations all related to skydiving.
With regularly updated content and high traffic in the forums, dropzone.com is probably the best skydive community and resource portal out there today. It’s one of the only places you can view comprehensive fatality reports. Grim for sure but a definite subject of interest for all skydivers from new to professional.
I’d love to see a redesign of the site. It’s certainly text intensive but if you have to choose design or content – I’d certainly go with content. Maybe one day they can be the best of both worlds.
