I was sitting in Chicago O-Hare airport yesterday damn near ready to go insane. The bustle of people was almost overwhelming. Everyone was in a sour mood.
It was quickly affecting my state. So there was only one thing to do. Get out the RTE Game. Now, you don’t need any paper or tools other than what you can find around you. There are many different versions but I’ll give you two here:
Redefine The Experience: The Game
They can be played in any setting, alone or with your group, but tends to work best in high traffic areas.
1) Leave something on the floor in a busy walkway – perhaps just out of the way. Like a quarter. See if you can guess the gender/color of hair/or type of clothing that the person will have who picks it up.
2) A great little sticky that says “Read Me Now!” always works well. It’s even better if you can have an instruction behind it that says raise your left hand to win a free coke. If not, please put me back down and give the coke to someone else.
UPDATE: Should someone actually raise their hand, have an ice cold can of Coke ready. They participate in life and that deserves a refreshing reward. After all, they took away your boredom for a moment and that’s worth $0.60 right?
Examples:

My favorite is to put “You are curious and adventurous because you picked me up. The universe will grant your wish now.”
Just to sit back and observe, perhaps speculate as to what the person is thinking will provide a great repreive to whatever monotonous situation you find yourself in.
Have you played this game?
What were the results?
Did you find any outward similarities in what the people looked like that participated or reactions they had?
