There are situations in my everyday life that are down right damn boring, hostile and all around a major waste of my time.

Due to my status as a “Productive Member of Society” I have obligations and I must deal with these situations. Is there an easy way to make these situations bearable? Oh Hell-to-the-Yeah there is.

Here Is Your Adventure Challenge:

Redefine your experience by labeling. Stay with me for a short moment and I’ll give you an example of how I did it and you’ll see the ultimate payoff.

Remember a gathering or situation you were a part of that was on the tip of or crested at unbearable.

  1. Make a list of each person that will be involved in the gathering/meeting/social situation.
  2. Search Google for Caricatures.
    1. Save one pic for each person. Just go with your first gut instinct.
  3. Write 3 adjectives about each person
    1. Make it a positive or endearing adjective. Being mean or hateful will just increase those feelings. This, if done positively, will reward you with a strange release. (Not the kind you had when you were 12 nimrod. Stay on track!) A release through humor. It’s tre difficult to describe but oh so sweet to experience.
  4. Now give them their perfect job or status title.
    1. If it’s work= Job Title (i.e., Mob Boss)
    2. Family= Status in family if it were a monarchy (i.e., Duchess of Perfection)
    3. Social= Title, have fun with it. (i.e., Belle of the Ball)

I’ve left a couple of people out and that’s ok. They’re not usually involved in my everyday rigamorole and it’s just as well.

Review the list you’ve made before going into the gathering / meeting / social situation and you’ll find that everyone is seen in a different light. The best part is that you’re the only one that knows.

That is until you email info (at) redefinetheexperience so your fine work and adventure can be shared with us all!

Benefit received: compassion, expanded perception by seeing people in a new light.

Thanks to @mateobaisden for the indirect inspiration!
